Goddess of .. Silent Saturday Morning

I'm visiting Lolita in Ottawa this weekend. I arrived last night coming straight from work. The drive wasn't very long but it was my first time driving such a distance, on a road I didn't know, alone. I learned that not only do I tend to belt out tunes @ the wheel to the great misfortune of Lucy (my car).. I also enjoy a good one-way conversation with Pierre, my GPS. I have to admit, it is pretty coo-coo of me ! I was just telling him stuff like "nah-ah, no way, I won't make that U-turn here"... Hahaha!

After I got to Lolita's place, being the good little girls we are, we had some wine, cooked dinner and baked cookies. We stayed in and I feel asleep long before her, who's a chronic insomniac. The result : I'm awake now and she's still sleeping! I love silence .. on a beautiful Saturday morning. Don't get me wrong, I like talking too, but it's nice to have nothing to do or nothing to say .. just for a little while.

Oink Oink, I see a bag of little brownies on the table, I shall pig out before Lolita wakes up :o) Oink, Oink !

Goddess of .. Uncomfortable chairs & back aches

Again, my back hurts from this damn chair at work. It seems my chair is too big for the desk I have and because of the arm rests, I can't bring it close enough to the desk. Consequently, I'm always sitting on the edge of my seat and it causes discomfort in my back !
Anyhow, I don't work for the pleasure of sitting in a comfortable chair, otherwise, I'd work as a professionnal latte drinker sitting @ Starbucks' all day !

I got inspired by a Greek god name generator altough Aritza is from me .. the rest just seemed appropriate for the type of blog I'd be writing.

Blogging is my new year's resolution. A little late, but, none the less important. I've recently started a new job and find myself bored multiple times a day. That's where the idea of blogging came from. I have no idea if it'll ever be entertaining to anyone but it might just help me avoid working !

I'm energetic and started blogging because I was bored at work. Now 4 years later, I'm still here. Less bored than before, but still enjoying the blogosphere. I blog about anything and everything, no matter how random sometimes.. but mostly about my friends, my relationships and my travels around the world!

I'm confident that people who like bacon, mascara, wine, cupcakes, sarcasm, silliness, traveling, everyday life, honesty, dating, flirting, etc. will love my blog!

Where did the name Aritza come from? Really, I don't know. I wanted something that sounded Greek or mythical, like "Athena, Goddess of War" but with my own touch.

About The Others

Alrighty, the main characters you need to know about are:

Lolita: BFF, met in college. I've known her for 10 years now. Went through Law School together. She's now a successful lawyer. She hasn't had the best of luck with men (cheaters, commitment-phobics, etc... she's seen it all). I missed her incredibly when she moved to Ottawa for a year or when I moved to Paris. She came to visit me in September 2012 and we went to Berlin (read about our trip) together . Fun times!

Mom: She made me from scratch. She's hands-down one of the most incredible people I know. The most generous and the kindest overall. She spoils me and loves me to bits. I try to do the same for her :) We've traveled quite a bit together, I think that when I buy her a trip with me as a present, it always makes her really happy because of all the quality time we get together on those trips. For Christmas 2010, I bought her a trip to Turks & Caicos.. and we had a blast. And in 2009, I took her to Philadelphia (read about our trip) for her 60th birthday!

Nick: Love of my life, dating since July 2011. We met 2 days before he was moving away for his MBA. We did the long distance thing for a year while he was studying abroad and are now happily living in Paris together! We've traveled a lot together already: France & Portugal (read about it), Canada, USA (read about it), Singapore & Malaysia (read about it), Greece (read about it), Italy (read about it), Austria, Spain.. and more to come!

Bunny: Close girlfriend, we met in college and bumped into each other at a wedding in 2010. She got me the job where I worked for 3 years (until March 2013) in web marketing. She works in marketing for another company now but we're good friends! We hang out when I'm back home.

Violet: Close girlfriend, met her through a friend in 2009. For a year, we were both single and  ready to mingle. We'd hangout all the time because she had a really flexible schedule and I was working less. She's been a great friend ever since! Now happily engaged to be married in September 2013. Hurray!
