Bloggies, I tried something new last night.
I've been wanting to go back to the gym for a while now and didn't do anything about it. Being newly single and not having that someone "who accepts you as you are or who knows your flaws" has made me want to better myself.
Lolita and her cousin talked to me about Hot Yoga so I decided to jump on board last night.
Hot yoga "is a style of yoga developed by Bikram Choudhury and a Los Angeles, California based company. Bikram Yoga is ideally practiced in a room heated to 105°F (40.5°C) with a humidity of 40%. Classes are guided by specific dialogue including 26 postures and two breathing exercises. Classes last approximately 90 minutes. Beginners may take Bikram's yoga classes."
Thanks Wikipedia.org
After 20 minutes, I wanted to run out of the room screaming and gasping for air. It was suffocating. Don't get me wrong, I've taken yoga classes but this ... well this ... was like trying to breathe under water. Your chest feels constricted and the warm air is everywhere (around you, inside your throat, everywhere). There's no breeze, no cool air, at all.
After 30 minutes, we were done with the standing postures which required the most balance. They're the thoughest ones for me, I can't stand on one leg so it was a major challenge (not even talking about the suffocation here).
I got nauseous and my heart was racing so fast that I sat/laid down for the next 30 minutes. Even after laying down for 10 minutes my heart was still racing. This sh*t is bananas, bloggies.
I did manage to pull myself together for the last 20-30 minutes of the class which included the floor postures, my favorites.
Before, I never would've imagined it could be this warm, it was like a sauna in there. Everyone was sweating like crazy and all the men were shirtless (which I cannot complain about, miammm).
Overall, I guess I'm proud of what I accomplished and it helped me deal with my Break-up feelings but during the class, it made me want to kill myself ! Lolita and her cousin insisted I give it another chance because the first time is the worse apparently. So bloggies, I'm going back tonight !
Breathe deeper. Aim higher. Be better.

Wow sounds crazy! Good luck I hope it feels better this time! Where I live now, it's 40 degrees in the sun. I'm not sure I'd be up for yoga, or any other kind of gymnastics or physical movement. I much prefer the couch in that temperature! :)
@ Cande : The couch is very tempting but I can't think this way :) Gotta push myself to new limits !
Ugh. That sounds awful. I hate saunas when I can't breathe, so I wouldn't be happy in a room that hot!
hi! First time visitor!! :) cute blog!!
<3
Good for you for trying it and making it through the entire class w/o passing out from heatstroke. :)
Then again, perhaps next time you should pretend to pass out and see if any of those hot sweaty men run to your rescue.
@ Non Sequitur Chica : It was awful and painful and sweaty. But it also makes you feel really good about making it through afterwards !
@ Iva : Hey Iva, thanks for dropping by ! You're welcome anytime, Ima sucker for comments :)
@ Catherinette : Yeah, I was proud of myself. Oh you should have seen last night's teacher. He was sooooooo HOT, muscles like a god, sweat glistening on his abs and he was wearing black tight fitting "boxer-brief" type of shorts. There was also a HOT student.. Lolita and I mingled with him after class, he seemed very nice too ! It makes me want to go back, but it's so painful !
Ugh - sounds like total torture to me. No thanks!
So guys take yoga where you live? Are they all gay!? haha! That one picture you have posted - he needs to eat some cake, in my humble opinion! ha!~
@ Christy : Hahaha, it is torture actually. The Hot hot hot yoga instructor began the class by saying : Welcome to the yoga torture chamber.
Yes, there were about as many guys as there were girls, awesome and not gay ! It's quite a treat :)
i would love to try this...sounds intense! i've never really been one for yoga, but something like this really piques my interest.
@ wekeepsaying : It was definetly something you have to try at least once ! I put it on my 30-things-to-do-before-I-turn-30 list !
